Stop Wishing Time Away

What do you want? This is a question we should ask ourselves. Ask and think, really think about what it is that you want, today, tomorrow, and in your life.

For me, I want to live a life full of adventure, a life full of meaning. To wake up every day excited and thrilled to see what it has to offer. Spend time doing things I love, with whom I love. Invest time into my art, into my love for animals, nature and for people. To laugh, and feel it coming from my core, filling me with joy. Love deeply and purely. I want to make people feel things from the work I do. I want to live a life I truly love, each day. I don’t want to wait to live, I want to live now.

People always say “I can’t wait to retire! Go on endless vacations! That will really be the good life! Only 25 more years!” Why do we feel the need to wait until the future to live, why can’t we make it our number one priority to live in the now. We need to stop working our life away, only to wait till we are 65 or retired to have fun and “live”.

Monday should not be a burden to us, a day we dread each week, only hoping Friday will come as soon as possible. Think about it this way, there are 365 days in a year, making 52 weeks. If we spend our weeks dreading Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and only liking Thursday because it means one more sleep till Friday; We are spending 4 out of 7 days of the week wishing our time away. Wishing time would only move faster so we can “live” for maybe 3 days and finding ourselves sad that the days passed to quickly. Meaning we have spent 57% of our week longing for the future. More than half. roughly 208 days a year are spent wishing it were Friday, wishing it was the weekend. So now, we are only enjoying 157 days in a whole year. When you look at it this way does it seem worth it? Wishing all that time away each day, each week and to only really enjoy roughly 22 weeks of the year….. Does this make you want to make a change? It should. You should want to get up right now and change what ever it is you have to so that you are living your best life every day. It is never to late.

“If you could live here for 1 year would you?”

“If you could change jobs and do something you really love would you?”

“If you could do this would you?”

People share these all the time, saying things like; “In a heartbeat”, “Hell Yeah”, “Of Course!” However, if you were truly given the opportunity to change your life, to really truly live. Would you? Could you? Would you be willing to do whatever it takes to live a life you will love? Or would you continue to work yourself into a retirement you won’t really enjoy as much as you think you’re going to.

Fear will always try to hold us back and it will if we allow it. The real question is whether you will let it hold you back or if you will put fear down in its place and rise above?

It is amazing, the way we let fear hold us back. But we must remember that we are bigger, we are stronger than fear will ever be.

“Never let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game”

A Cinderella Story

It is easier said than done, taking chances. Yet, its something we must do in order to live a life we love. Our days should be filled with more joy than anything else. I am well aware that life is not always rainbows and butterflies, but that there are days of rain and darkness. What we can do is ensure that while these hard times will appear unexpectedly, the rest of our life is filled with joy.

More often than not, taking chances means stepping out of our comfort zones, taking a leap of faith and praying (to whom or whatever you believe in) that it will work out in  our favour. We must remember that there is no harm in failing and that failing every now and then is what makes us human. Failing is still an experience, that gives us life lessons and stories we can share with others. Life is not perfect, but that is the beauty of it. We have the ability to live our lives how we please, they are ours to make.

What a beautiful blessing that is.

These last couple weeks have awoken something in me, something in me has changed and I have started to see life in a new way. New realizations, new dreams, new goals. I want to live. I want to live a life that I love each and every day. I don’t want to dread waking up on a Monday, to show up to a job where no one remembers what I have done for them once they leave. I want people to be impacted by the things I do for them, to be a place and a part of their memory. For them to walk away and for me to know that I have made a difference. To step out of the comfort zone we are all to easily trapped in.

2017 will not be a year that I waste 57% of my weeks wishing time away. I will value each second I am given, I will learn to truly live. I will challenge myself, face fears and overcome obstacles. I will lean on those that stand beside, in front and behind me. Knowing that no matter what I choose to do with my life, they will hold me up. Encouraging me to move forward and to reach for the stars. I will do something that scares me, in a good way. Maybe not each day but more often than not. Challenge myself to learn who I really am and what i am destined to do. Better myself so I can make a life that matters.

I encourage you to make 2017 a year of stepping out of your comfort zone. Take chances, experience new things. Take a class. Take a vacation. Experience the wide open, feel the wind through your hair and the ground beneath your feet. Learn something new, challenge yourself. Connect with people who have a positive influence on your life. Rid your life of negativity. Make this year about you.

If we spend our time working away, we miss out on adventure, on experiences. Live a life that is good and pure. Worth telling and sharing with your kids, your grand kids.

I am so excited to see what this year has to offer. There is no better time to start.

The time is now.

Wishing you all the best, always.

So true. I’m older now and I look back at some of the opportunities that I let pass by due to fear of where they would lead and wonder what if. I now examine my choices with new eyes. Not afraid. Just ready.
    Ready to make a difference.
    Ready to make a change.
    And excited about it all.
    Bring it.
